ECU Accepts Invitation to Join Conference USA in Unforgettable Fashion

East Carolina University (ECU) officially announced today that it has accepted an invitation to join Conference USA, ushering in an exciting new chapter for Pirate athletics. The move will take effect in July 2026, just in time for the Pirates to compete in the conference for the 2026 season.

In a uniquely emotional and surreal moment, the announcement was live-streamed directly from the hospital room of ECU Head Coach Mike Peaches, who has been in a coma since the first week of August 2025. ECU staff and players stood by their coach’s bedside, symbolizing their unity and unwavering support.
